The Void of the Line

As part of the "Rethinking the Production of Space" lecture series, Zeynep Sayın will give a talk titled "The Void of the Line" at YUNT. Drawing on her new book, Sayın will demonstrate that the concepts of line and void, which at first glance seem contradictory, are in fact interwoven structures.

Zeynep Sayın

Born in Istanbul in 1961, he is a literary scholar, art theorist, and academic. He studied literary studies, art history, and philosophy in Istanbul, Salzburg, and Vienna. He worked at various universities in Istanbul, at the Faculty of Architecture of Mardin Artuklu University, and at the Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Vienna. For some time now, he has been teaching at the Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst (honorary professor) in Leipzig and at the Linz University of the Arts. His books include Mithat Şen and Body Writing (Kaknüs, 1999), Noli me tangere (Kaknüs, 2000), The Pornography of the Image (Metis, 2003), Communities of Evil (Tekhne, 2016), and The Void of the Line (Norgunk, 2024).
